Curious about learning to sew on a machine? Overwhelmed with where to start? Try a 1:1 lesson with Jess. 1:1 lessons can help beginner sewers get familiar with your machine and more advanced sewers tackle the sewing projects you've been dreaming of. No prior sewing experience required. (Owning a machine is optional. You can bring yours or use one of ours!)Jess Webster is a Burlington based sewist that owns Paper Crane Theory, a slow fashion brand that is passionate about upcycling and using vintage textiles. Jess enjoys all things in the fiber and textile world and has been sewing since she was a teen.
Rent our sewing space - $25/2 hours
Have a sewing project, but no space to do it? Rent ours! Use our cutting table and one of our sewing machines for up to 2 hours. Please note that this service is only for people who are familiar with sewing on a sewing machine. It will include a brief instruction on using the machine of your choosing and basic troubleshooting as needed, but this is NOT a sewing lesson.

Craft and sip: make your own garden markers

Thursday, March 26, 2026 6:00 – 8:00 PMCan't wait for the snow to melt and gardening season to begin? Get a jump start on it by making custom garden markers for all the plants you're dreaming of growing. We'll be using, scrabble tiles, letter beads, and other materials to make beautiful functional markers. They can be used as-is for inside plants, or left with us to seal for outside use and picked up after class.
Swiss Darning for repairs and embellishments

Tuesday, April 7 6-8pmSwiss Darning is a repair method for knit items. It is similar to a duplicate stitch in knitting, but can be used to create a new knit fabric over a hole. This can be used either to create a seamless invisible repair or to add embellishment.For this class, please bring a knit item that you'd like to repair or decorate. This could be a handknit item like a sweater or blanket, or handknit socks (but NOT store-bought socks). Feel free to bring other store-bought knit items as long as they are made of thicker yarn. This technique is not suitable for very thin sweaters (like commercially made cashmere or similarly thin items. If you have any questions about the suitability of your item, please feel free to email me!
Fixing Mistakes In Knitting

Friday, April 10 10am-noonDoes the thought of dropping stitches or making a mistake in your knitting give you anxiety? Do you wish you could relax and enjoy your knitting more knowing you had the tools to fix anything that comes your way? Then this is the class for you! In this workshop, we will address many common knitting mistakes and practice how to fix them so that you can knit confidently.
This class is perfect for advanced beginner or intermediate knitters. Max 12 studentsPlease bring the following swatch to class still on the needlesCast on 20 sts

Intro to Crochet

Monday, April 13 6-8pmJoin us for an introduction to crochet. This class is perfect for folks who've never tried crocheting before, as well as those who are looking for a refresher. During this class, you will learn to chain stitch and single crochet as well as double crochet and some basic troubleshooting as time allows. Materials are included! All students will receive a crochet hook and choice of yarn from our basic yarn wall, though you are also welcome to bring your own supplies if you have something you'd like to use.This class is geared towards adults, but children 10 and up are welcome to attend with an adult who is also registered. Maximum of 10 students.
Crochet Granny Squares

Monday April 27th and May 4th 6-8pmGranny squares are the perfect versatile building block for your crochet projects. With them you can make everything from blankets to bags to bikini tops.In the first session of this class, we'll cover how to make granny squares including techniques for changing color and weaving in your ends. In the second session, we'll discuss the different methods for joining your squares to create an infinite number of fun and unique projects.This class is designed for folks who have some basic crochet experience. If you've never crocheted before, please register for intro to crochet (Mon. Intro to Hand Embroidery

Wednesday, April 22 6-8pmJoin us at The Makery for an introduction to hand embroidery with Danielle Buchanan. This class is great for beginners or folks who want to get back into hand embroidery. We'll learn the most commonly used hand embroidery stitches like french knots, whipped back stitch, and lazy daisies, and you'll leave class with a fun embroidered design of your own! Supplies will be provided, but feel free to bring your own fabric items to embroider if you'd like.
Intermediate embroidery - 2 session class

Join us for Intermediate Embroidery with Danielle Buchanan. This class is perfect for folks who've taken our intro to embroidery or who otherwise have a little embroidery experience and are looking to take their skills to the next level. Supplies will be provided, but feel free to bring your own fabric items to embroider if you'd like.
Mini Makers
First Saturday of the Month 10:00-11:30am $15
Mini Makers is a hands-on arts and crafts experience designed for kids ages 2-5. Caregivers join their child at many different crafting stations where kids can explore with all their senses and develop their fine motor skills. Each month, we’ll set up an assortment of ever changing craft opportunities so kids can explore colors, shapes, textures, and so much more at their own pace. Previous crafts have included: Collage, stamps, painting, coloring, beading, play-doh, slime, and more!

All craft parties include:

Make an appointment at the link above and bring your donation in anytime on your scheduled day.
We will email you your store credit amount and if you've chosen the option on your form, we will let you know if we have any items to be returned to you.
Your store credit goes into your customer account and you can use it anytime on merchandise or classes! To use your store credit to register for a class, you can email us, or register in person at the store.
Donation Guidelines
All donated items must be free of smells and signs of moths or other pests.
We do NOT accept:
Home textile items such as bedding, curtains, tablecloths, etc.
Household decorations
Clothing - including clothing that has been cut up to be upcycled
Corks, pill bottles, mint tins, egg cartons, and other recyclables
Jewelry (intact or broken, though we will happily accept beads or pendants that have been removed from jewelry)
Partially finished craft projects (including partially painted canvasses)
